Cyt expertise:
Vast knowledge of gramscian, post-gramscian and post-foundational theoretical developments on hegemony and political identities. He has conducted research and produced theoretical works on different aspects of the populist political logic according to the formulation of Ernesto Laclau. He is currently developing theoretical and empirical approaches related to the articulation between the work of Laclau and Lacan, particularly regarding the theoretical and analytical status of the concepts of pleasure and affection and their usefulness to understand political processes. He has used these theoretical instruments to study radical right-wing parties in Latin America, especially in Argentina. Besides, in the last few years he has produced works on the political factors that impact on inequality levels in subnational political domains. He has conducted both quantitative and qualitative studies that show the relation between inequality levels in subnational jurisdictions and the different types of government alliances (progressive or regressive) that acquire a predominant presence in state structures. He has completed numerous studies of this kind for Argentina and has started similar works for Brazil.
